Pro rally car driver Ken Block dies in snowmobile accident
It is the third of January 2023, and the news is full of one extremely sad message. Ken Block is dead. I can’t express how sad I am about Ken Block’s death. He was able to connect, inspire, and grow the global community of car and motorsport enthusiasts. It’s safe to say that almost every car enthusiast is mourning with his friends and family. My sincerest thoughts and condolences go out to Ken’s family and friends. According to the news, Ken Block died in a snowmobile accident near Utah. Because I have the feeling that typical news and newspapers always add something to the real story, I have decided to make a short, 100% objective, and transparent article for all those who want to know what has happened. So, according to an official report from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, here’s what we know.
On January 2, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Wasatch County 911 Center received a call reporting a snowmobile accident in the Mill Hollow area. search, along with law enforcement from the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Utah State Parks, and the U.S. Forest Service responded. The driver, Kenneth Block, a 55-year-old male from Utah, was riding a snowmobile down a steep slope when the snowmobile upended, landing on top of him. He was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident. Mr. Block was riding with a group but was alone when the accident occurred. The state Medical Examiner’s office will determine the official cause of death. We are saddened to hear of the loss of Kenneth, and our hearts are with his family and friends who are so deeply affected. We thank all of our first responders for their continued service. Ken Block was a professional rally driver and the co-founder of Hoonigan, a motor racing team with an extremely well-known and successful YouTube channel where they produced the most insane car drifting videos on the planet. Ken Block won five X Games medals in Rallye Cross.
Hoonigan released a statement on Instagram confirming Block’s death. They said, “It is with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident yesterday.” Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, an icon, and most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. “We are pleased to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time.“ What also shocked me was to see that just 14 hours earlier Ken Block posted a few Instagram stories about a sketchy and snowy drive with some great snowboard entertainment from his Audi e-tron. He showed a CanAm X3 under approximately 30 to 40 centimetres of snow and a bunch of snowy snowmobiles. Also, a very good friend of him, Jean Pierre Kramer, who is the most popular car YouTuber in Germany, posted on Instagram about Ken Block’s death, saying, “I’m down and can’t believe it, we had so many cool ideas.” Thank you for being one of my real friends.
All in all, everything I can say is once again that I can’t express by far how sad I am about Ken Block’s death. He was able to connect, inspire, and increase the number of car and motorsport enthusiasts all over the world.
